Mid Cycle Update

Feel like reflecting on the cycle so far.

3 excellent interviews followed by 3 rejections was not what I was expecting, but it is what it is and we gotta push forward. For context, one of my 5 letters is from my nurse team lead, and is a massive red flag on my app - she was apparently very critical of my abilities in a clinical setting (one school directly said they rejected me for her letter alone, nothing else).

HOWEVER.. I cannot keep coping and seething about this and not take accountability for anything I can't improve on. I can always do better and iterate on my skills because there will inevitably be much greater push-back in this profession ahead. It very well could be that this is happening to prepare me for the 80 hours a week of being slowly chipped away at in a hospital during residency (it's strange that, at the same time, I've never wanted to do anything else with my life for a career).

I guess this is a word of encouragement out there for anyone reading this that is receiving those wonderful, awesome, super cool rejection letters - don't give up. Keep knocking on the proverbial door outside the med school until the ADCOMs let out a collective groan and begrudgingly let you in to their incoming class.

Pray for me for this next interview and for what lies ahead. Currently sitting in PACU waiting for my mom's procedure to finish up. Godspeed.
