I got into med school which I’m super exited about. But when I told my parents they were like don’t worry a better one will come. And that got me thinking that way too when I should be happy and celebrating the accomplishment. They don’t know the amount of work it took for me to get to this place. Now, one of my friends got a full ride to medical school. I can’t help but compare our applications. I even helped her check her application. She submitted way later, lower gpa, no research, less of everything and same Mcat. But she is an accomplished athlete. I’m happy for her but to not even have heard back from that same school is hurting my ego. Also, maybe we are still both doctors but elitism is still a thing in medicine.
