Who else is stuck in the middle? Parents make too much to get need-based aid, but won't contribute to my education.
I know lots of us are probably in this category: med schools that offer "institutional need-based aid" say you don't need any money because your parents have some, but you are not getting any support from them for a variety of reasons (large debts, familial estrangement, etc.) and now you're stuck with $100k per year to cough up with no savings and no backup. It just sucks that we haven't figured out a good way for this student group to pay for this stuff, especially with the new loan capping. It just feels weird to be told I don't need any help when I arguably need it just as much as most people who are actually getting significant aid. That's all, rant over.
