To start off, I know this site is skewed towards certain portions of the applicant pool. Regardless, I think some of you guys are too wrapped up in the "me, me, me" of this process that you fail to truly comprehend that the goal of ADCOMs is to pick physicians that address the actual health needs of the populations they serve. I understand that the MCAT is hard, and you have every right to feel frustrated at times bc this process is so long. HOWEVER, there's no evidence of there being a strong tie between MCAT scores and patient outcomes. It's a known trend that applicants with a 520+ gravitate towards competitive specialties like neurosurgery. Why would a school want to consider the billionth 520+ applicant planning to go into a specialty like that when they also need people who are interested in and LIKELY to go into things like family medicine? That's not to say someone who likes family medicine never has an amazing score, but like everyone else here, I can only speak on trends. I swear some of ya'll think a physician who got a 505 is gonna kill someone LOL. If you just minded your business and spoke out positivity and acceptance, this process and the WORLD would be a much better place<3
