How much med school debt is too much?
How much debt is too much? I'm a low-income student in need of some guidance. My undergrad and grad education were fully funded with scholarships which has been a tremendous privilege, and now I'm trying to learn more about loans.
At what point are the loans not worth it? I noticed the interest rate on the fed unsub loan is around 8%. Is it better to go with HRSA LDS if possible? Are there other options altogether? If we decide to do primary care, at what point is a loan big enough that we might not be able to pay it back at all? I'm also wondering if a T20 or T10 is worth the debt vs full tuition at an unranked or T50 school.
I realize these are a lot of questions and that an 'acceptable' amount of debt is a personal and subjective perspective. Any insight is appreciated -- thanks!
