And yet, the timeline doesn't budge.

We check on peers.

Compare notes; compare identities; compare strengths.

How can I reconcile?

Recognize patience as a friend too and not a practice.

While the ache of uncertainty blinds, burns, beats down,

The aloe of patience treats our wounds,

Builds integrity.

Why? All this?

Because when something feels worthwhile, and you've worked this hard,

Patience is no longer an attribute to aspire to have, as if one that has not been achieved.

It becomes an ingrained, lasting character trait.

Like a friend, traits are who you can fall back on when things are tough.

Fall back on patience, lean on patience, grow from patience.

It'll be worth it.
