I got to shadow a doctor that I have really looked up to for a while at my job today and I just got reminded why all of this is worth it. I work full time as a CRC and haven’t gotten an II yet and have been really doubting myself and anxious and burnt out especially from work. I emailed a doctor in another department that I had seen give a presentation and thought his work was super interesting. I got to shadow today and there were some really really tough cases and hard news to deliver. I was so moved by his support, kindness, and attentiveness to every single patient he saw. He was also just nice to me and included me in the conversations with other doctors and I just didn’t feel like I was in the way which is so rare in shadowing I feel like!

Even though there were sad situations, I left feeling so inspired and reinvigorated again. I’m thinking about how far I’ve come, to be applying to medical school, when this has been my dream for so long.

Bonus on top of that, I got my manuscript published!

So even though I didn’t get an II, today was a good day, and I am grateful to be applying. I cannot wait to become a great physician, and hopefully be able to give other pre meds a shadowing experience like I had today. :)
