If you submitted your secondary before the deadline, you are in the running for an interview. Full-stop.

I know this process is ridiculous and stressful, and I know that all the smoke and mirrors on the part of adcoms makes it all the more challenging, but we have to remember that schools are not going to throw out a potentially good candidate just because they submitted a few weeks later than others.

This process takes so long because most schools endeavor to actually read all of the applications they receive. They don’t just magically run out of interviews in October and stop sending them. If they read your app and they think you’re a great fit, they’re going to extend an interview. It might be at a time where the flow of interviews has slowed, but they’re not just going to throw you out just because they’ve given the bulk of their interviews out.

The exact number of interviews schools give out each year fluctuates because so does the number of applicants they want to interview! You might literally be the last application the committee reads, but you will STILL have a chance at an interview if they want to hear more from you.

Keep your heads up, homies. It’s not over til it’s over, and we’re not anywhere near that point.
