orm / 506 / 3.62 / graduated 2023 / ny resident
please be nice to me, looking back now there are schools on this list i had absolutely no shot at. #imjustagirl.
about me:
*2k-ish hrs as a palliative care scribe :) (love love LOVE doing this, i dont want to leave! i will cry on the last day)
*250-ish? hrs as a "research assistant" helping to create a new older adult program at local hospital (where I scribe); assist with data entry, helping people complete health care proxies, scribe for the medical director/physician as they see the pts eligible for the older adult program, etc.
*700-ish hrs as a waitress, at a local assisted living facility, then transitioned to working as a "resident assistant" at same facility, so maybe another 400 hrs :) (also loved working here, hated to leave, since i had a lot of close relationships with the residents!!)
*150-ish hrs of #random volunteering during college
*80+hrs at local food bank (since feb 2025)
*20+hrs at hospice (since may 2025 - not many hrs i know, but family commitments come up regularly)
*did many hrs of neuroscience research freshman to senior year back in college with poster presentations (sadly no pubs), not sure number of hrs
*some shadowing but not docs (NPs, PAs) - forgot to put this on my application lol ? with scribing i see everything: history-taking, in-deph physical exams, to what the doc recommends to the pt so that counts in my book as shadowing
*2001 - infinity: never letting the bass-turds grind me down
*2026- infinity: making the most of what has been graciously given to me, and looking cute in business professional clothes while doing so :D
