Anyone have a similar experience?
So sorry for the long post. I appreciate you if you care to share your take. At least it’s something to read while waiting for more live results.
I got into medical school and I’m thrilled. I have worked so hard. I have been working part time in a hospital as a nurse aide for the last 3 years simultaneously while in college.
I consider myself to be rather in tune and social with others and have great working and personal relationships. I work closely with RNs in my role and from the start my whole unit has been aware of my ambitions for medical school. Why is it that I feel so socially excluded by nurses? Especially ones that are not too much older than me. Like we get along and are good people. But why am I and others in my role as a nurse aide or maybe my age (22) someone shunned and does it have anything to do with my goals in pursuing medicine? I have so much respect for nurses and cannot relate to the hell of nursing school I hear about but we can still be friends! Many others in my exact role are also pursuing health professions: nursing, respiratory therapists, medicine, lvn, etc. I just thought as my first long term job that I would have better friendships with coworkers.
Just a little spiral of mine but just curious about others experiences working in healthcare roles while pursuing medical school.
I am really hoping to find supportive, kind, and strong friends in medical school.
