II in August, then radio silence...
Only one II (Rochester) and 3 Rs (UChicago, BU, Dartmouth) thus far, out of 46 schools.
As a re-applicant (ORM; research-heavy; 516/3.95), it sucks watching II chances get slimmer as September ends...
Interviewed at one school last cycle (WashU), no dice there either.
Pretty hellish waiting for life to resume, feels like I entered stasis post-graduation in 2023.
Sure, one can make friends and find hobbies. But in the tri-state area, your professional life kinda defines your worth.
And with how I was raised, I get pretty depressed without forward momentum on that front. Living at home, feeling like a kid at 25, no clear end in sight. Dating and having to explain that I'm "doing research and applying to medical schools" as a career status lmao; humiliating and a turn-off in east-coast culture, where same-aged peers are further along.
I usually find venting counterproductive since it won't fix the problem. But, I guess it's better than avoiding the reality of the situation, like I've been doing.
Anyone else feel similarly?
