Am I competitive?

- 400+ clinical hours (PCA)

- 0 research hours

- 20 shadowing hours

- 190 (non-clinical) volunteering hours

- 3.6 GPA

- MCAT registered for early march

I'm currently a junior undergrad, and I'm on the fence about gapping. I will be researching in the upcoming spring semester, as I'm aware that my application lacks that. My classes have been going better than they have in previous semesters, so I expect my GPA to go up as well. I recently spoke with a physician who told me to reach out and setup appointments/phone calls with my top choice school's adcoms to talk to them about my competitiveness for the next cycle, and she told me to apply in the upcoming cycle if those adcoms believed I could be a strong candidate. My question is whether or not that would be a viable option because to me, it seemed a little unorthodox. I apologize if this comes off wrong or rude in anyway, I'm just worried, and would love a second opinion. If there's anything else you'd need to know, please lmk.
