I was reflecting on myself and my story and class. I immigrated with my parents to this country when I was in elementary school, and I've been a student of modest intelligence (I think lol). I went to my local state school for undergrad and applied to more state med schools. I feel kind of jaded recently by the classist comments about state schools. I wonder if the people who attend elite schools take a moment to reflect on the immense wealth that allows them to do so. Their parents are doctors, immigrated here earlier or wealthy and connected. Recently I had a couple doctors from a higher socioeconomic background tell me that either I'll never be a doctor or that I'll never see any success as a doctor. I don't think it's fair when people with more resources punch down. I try to reassure myself in my abilities, but sometimes these uncouth comments really get to me. My parents tell me that I have nothing to prove to these folks and to remain truthful to myself and God. Yet I feel anger
