MD sending another email to med school

I recently caught up with one of the attendings I work with and gave him an update on how my application cycle is going. He already wrote me a strong LOR earlier in the cycle, but he mentioned that if there’s a medical school I’m particularly interested in—and that I’ve already interviewed at—he’d be happy to reach out to the school directly on my behalf if I provided the appropriate contact information. He also mentioned he could see if he knows anyone at the school or simply send an email.

I thanked him at the time but didn’t commit, since I wasn’t sure whether this is something applicants typically do, especially given that he already wrote me a LOR. I do know a few people in past cycles who had attendings reach out to schools before or after interviews, but I’m unsure how much of a difference it makes when a LOR is already on file.

For context, he’s very well-known and well-connected in his field and works at a T5 medical school (which I didn’t apply to). I wanted to ask whether it’s generally advisable to take him up on this offer or if it’s better to just thank him and not pursue it further.
