To those of you who are gearing up to apply/re-apply and have the resources/time, SEND that OOS public school app if you think you have the stats/mission fit. I just got a full ride to a Texas public school with ZERO state ties. I wasn’t even going to apply to that school until I realized that TMDSAS doesn’t make you pay per school on the primary. Unless you’re limited to a small number of schools, if you have any reason at all to believe you fit a school, send that application and pour your heart into convincing them you’re a fit!! don’t apply to the University of Hawaii if you’ve never left your hometown of Charlotte North Carolina, but as long as you’re applying within reason, don’t be scared to send that application! It may feel like a waste of money, but if you do have some to spare, remember that ultimately all med schools you apply to (except the one you’ll attend) are technically wasting your money…
