Every other post I've seen recently has contained multiple comments along the lines of "I have a 526 MCAT and no II, I'm completely cooked" or "I wasn't one of the like 10 people to have received NYU IIs, there must be horrible red flags on my application, time to pack my sunscreen."

If that is you, I am here to beg you to get a grip, touch grass, go on a date, literally anything that isn't doom spiraling. First, though, I want you all to look at the cute lil graph I attached and put your finger about 1/3rd of the way between August and September. What do you see? A line telling you that maybe, maaaaaaybe 5-10% of the interviews that were ultimately reported on Cycletrack during the 2022 cycle had been sent out by this point. Also note that Cycletrack, like this dumb website, is full of overachieving nerds who probably have better apps than average. Even among this very skewed population, barely any IIs have been sent out.

Still don't believe me? You can also peruse the cycle results on here from last year. You will see so, so, sooooooo many applicants with like a 4.0 and a 524 who submitted their secondary in July, didn't get an II until November, and still got accepted. The same goes for people with less stellar stats. These schools look at applicants and send out IIs using criteria beyond submission order. No one knows what those criteria are, so it's just not worth stressing out about. You might've submitted before someone else who got an II and not received one yourself for a million reasons that have nothing to do with your competitiveness as an applicant.

Point is: everyone will be fine, we're still at the very beginning of the cycle, but this crash out is mainly directed at the high stat bozos. Like look, if you fall into the 3.8+ and 517+ bucket - which is the majority of the people I've seen going on about how it's over cause they have no IIs - then you're a part of a population where about 83% of applicants get an acceptance. While we can't know for sure, I'm willing to bet most of that remaining 17% either just applied to Harvard or applied super late or had some other very obvious application flaw. If that's not you, you've gotta chill out. You will be fine and you will probably get in somewhere.

Go outside and enjoy the summer. I promise it's a better time than stressing yourselves out over hypotheticals that aren't grounded in reality on here.
